Applekuch: Luxembourg

This is a great dessert in a fix! It’s the simplest ingredients, and completely sugar/fat/carb free (well, mostly). It tastes just like a traditional apple cake, so feel free to eat the whole thing in one go.


1 cup almond flour

1 red delicious apple

1/2 cup milk

1 egg

1 tablespoon sugar

2 teaspoons cinnamon

1 teaspoon nutmeg

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Preheat the oven to 350 F

Start by dicing the apples,

and adding half each of the nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla.

You can saute them first, if you want the cake to have more of a mushy texture. Never liked mush, myself. Once the apples are ready, let them sit and get acquainted.

While they’re making small talk, make the batter. Just whisk up the egg, milk, sugar, almond flour, and the rest of the cinnamon, vanilla, and nutmeg.

Find a cake pan, and grease it real good (You can use butter and flour if you’ve got the motivation. If you lost all your motivation 3.5 years ago, just use Pam, okay?). Add in the apples, and then pour the batter on top.

Alternately, bake the batter in two cake pans, and then spread the cooked apples in between!

When it’s done, let it cool, and then dust it with powdered sugar and serve with tea, coffee, or milk.
